Have you been listening to the recent conversation around Meta Verified? Well as of yesterday (19th February 2023), following an announcement from Mark Zuckerberg on the new broadcast chat feature on Instagram called “Channels”, this subscription service has now started to be rolled out. An announcement was made on his Facebook page too.
What is Meta Verified?
Meta verified is a new *paid* subscription service. If you subscribe to it you will have new benefits including:
- blue check verified badge
- direct access to customer support
- extra impersonation protection
The service will be rolled out in Australia and New Zealand in the first instance and then will follow in other countries.
Fee Structure
Currently, monthly fees start at USD $11.99 for web or $14.99 iOS which roughly translates to £9.97 for web or £12.46 iOS
The announcement specifically mentioned iOS for the larger fee, however, there is much reporting that this is for all mobile devices. We’ll have to watch this space.
So who can apply?
At the moment Meta Verified is available to personal profiles ONLY – on Facebook and Instagram, not to businesses. Again, we are going to need to watch this space.
So once Meta Verified is rolled out to the UK you will be able to sign up by providing a government ID. You will need to be 18+ and meet “account activity” requirements ….. I’ll let you know more about that when I find out what the activity requirements are!
The blue tick will stay on your account … for as long as you subscribe to the monthly subscription.
